Oni is a story book using a mix of classic ukiyo-e paintings and digital pop art tell a story of love, loss, and revenge in Sengoku Era Japan.
It is bound in a traditional Japanese style and each book is hand made.
The story
Father, Mother, Lover... all violently taken from her. Oni follows the story of Tsukiko Sagi on her bloody quest for revenge against the Shogun who stole her life.
The Book
Each book is hand made using the traditional Japanese Stab Binding method.
Every cover is hand sewn utilizing Japanese decorative papers that reflect the superb craftsmanship, design sensibilities and rich variety of the Edo Period (1630 - 1868). Chiyogami papers are characteristically small dense patterns that were originally wood block prints but are now typically silkscreened.
The Author
Fermin Martinez is a writer, artist, and journalist whose fantasy and sci-fi stories have appeared in The Nomidian Theater. While covering arts and culture for the Homer News, he documented the lives of Alaskan sled dogs and self sustained communities. When he's not raising dogs and tracking long lost cults, he works for film and television programs including the hit NBC series βThe Apprentice.β He now lives in an attic with his pet cat, Netflix.
